The first round of the playoffs are now complete. Despite a disappointing loss to the Dufferin Steelers, we have some
good news to announce: The Bullets have qualified as the wildcard team and advanced to the semi finals.
Benji Lightstone and the rest of The Bullets will get a chance for some very sweet revenge as they will be facing
the GT Express, who ran over them 12-3 a little over two weeks ago.
While The Bullets feel that beating the GT Express is a challenge, they also say it is not an impossible hurdle to
get over. And with the embarassing defeats of the last two weeks still in their minds, there is every reason to suggest that
The Bullets will be fierce opponent and have a shot at glory.
The 12-3 score is not reflective of the difference of skill level between the two clubs. Against other opponents,
both teams have fared pretty similar - which clearly shows that the teams are more equal in skill than may be suggested.
That said, this opponent will not be a cakewalk by any means. Each and every Bullet needs to have a beyond-exceptional game
if The Bullets want a chance to compete for the ultimate trophy this season.
Puckdrop will be on August 10th at 5:00pm. See you there and. . . GO BULLETS GO!
Father time finally caught up with The Bullets - in the worst possible way. After sweeping the season series against
the Dufferin Steelers three games to none, The Bullets fell 4-3 in overtime in the most important game yet.
The game was full of drama and intensity. The first period was dominated by The Bullets. The second belonged to the Steelers.
While in the third, both teams took turns controlling the play.
The Bullets took the lead first on a beautiful give and go between Matt Ockrant and Dave Preston. Linemate Tyler Cohen headmanned to Preston, who broke in to the offensize zone and crossed it to Ockrant. After dangling the puck
for a moment, Ockrant made an incredible pass at the very last second back to Preston. He made no mistake in burying his fifth
goal of the season.
In the second, the Steelers were in control, as they scored twice. The first goal was a rocket slapshot from
the point off the rush which deflected off Stroll's glove and into the net. The second goal was also scored on a slapshot,
however this time the shot deflected off defenseman Bruce Mackenzie and went into the net.
Down by one early in the third, The Bullets found themselves shorthanded. After gaining control of the puck, Joey Evans iced the puck and chased after his own dump-in. The Steelers goalie played the puck and attempted to fake Evans out by pretending
to smother it, however the trick fell on deaf ears. As always, Evans was relentless in his attack and eventually managed to
steal the puck from the goalie. After a couple of whacks he wired the puck into the net, scoring The Bullets third short-handed
goal of the season and tying the game up.
Building on that momentum, it took only two minutes for The Bullets to strike again. Defenseman Mike Adelson took the puck from behind the net in the defensive zone and rushed end-to-end before roofing the puck. After crossing over
the blue line, he cut towards the centre of the ice and essentially out-waited the goalie. The Steelers defenseman was tied
up with a Bullets forward, and after the goalie showed an opening, Adelson made no mistake and put The Bullets in the lead.
The high The Bullets were experiencing came crashing down faster than the Germans did in 1945. The Steelers
tied the game on a giveaway, which ended up bouncing off Adelson's shin pad right to an open forward who tapped it into the
cage.
Even though they continued to play decently, things would only get worse. Both teams sat back for the final
few minutes and the Steelers successfully forced overtime.
Early on in the first extra period, a fairly innocent looking Steelers rush became deadly against
The Bullets. A three-on-three rush somehow turned into a two-on-one, and after a mediocre cross-ice pass was made, the
receiving forward skillfully played the puck and managed to bury the game winner with very little room
to do so.
Dustin Stroll once again was very reliable in net. He stopped fifteen of nineteen shots in the game. Of the four goals against, he can
only be faulted for one. Had a bit of better luck went The Bullets way, this game could have easily been a 3-1 victory, largely
thanks to Stroll.
Despite the loss, The Bullets playoff and dreams of being league champion are not necessairly over yet. To have any chance
at advancing at this point, The Bullets must hope that the other games played Sunday evening were more one-sided
than their own. Because The Bullets forced overtime, they are in a good position to advance, even with the loss. However,
nothing is guaranteed as the format for selecting the wildcard has not been released to the public.
Be sure to check back to the site soon for information about the next game!

game of the season.

Further information will be released as we get it.
Thanks fans for all your support and lets make the 2008 playoffs one to remember!
The Bullets came into their regular season finale with high hopes as a first place finish and top seed heading into the
playoffs remained possible. By the games end, The Bullets dreams of first place were shattered, and a
tougher opponent now awaits in the first round of the single-elimination playoffs.
It was all GT Express in this one; they scored their first three goals within one minute and twenty seconds of each other.
Their captain finished with an astonishing five goals and three assists.
Matt Ockrant had 3 points (2g, 1a), Max Shuster (1g, 1a) and Mike Adelson (2a) had two points each, Joey Evans recorded his first point of the season (1a) and Ari Greenberg recorded an assist as well. Ockrant and Adelson have passed injured centre Ben Ashkin in points and are now tied for the team lead with 13 points each.
The Bullets have clinched third place heading into the playoffs. The format will be posted as soon as its released by
the league.
Check back soon for full details of the game and for information on the playoffs.
LEIBTOG AND S. SPEARS OUT DUE TO INJURY
July 19th, 2008
The injury list continues to grow for The Bullets, as they will be without forward Mark Leibtog and defenseman Steven Spears on Sunday night, as both have suffered fluke injuries.
Leibtog's injury appears to be the more serious of the two. He has reinjured his right shoulder and may be lost
for the season. A similar injury caused Leibtog to miss a significant amount of time in the past.
Spears, on the other hand, has been suffering from an ailing back and has definitively been scratched for the game.
He is considered day-to-day and should hopefully be back next week.
The Bullets are already without centre Ben Ashkin, who is recovering from mononucleosis. The team remains hopeful that Ashkin will return for the final game of the season,
however he still needs to undergo many tests and get medical clearance before playing again.
Expect an injury update the moment new information becomes available.
BULLETS VICTORIOUS AGAINST EXTRA-GREASY OPPONENT
Bullets sweep season series against a very clutch, grab, and temper tantrem throwing Steelers club
Shuster net a pair including breakaway game winner late in third. Shuster's
patented goal is an all-world top-shelf wrist shot and he made no mistake when given an opportunity tonight.
Stroll had a marvellous game, stopping 18 of 21. Two breakaway saves: Toe Save; Pad Save (immediately followed by an
incredible paddle save on the rebound). Often, jaw-dropping saves inspire a team to step it up. The Bullets
responded beautifully to Stroll's saves and the game winner was scored moments later.
Bullets can not finish regular season lower than third. A win next week along with a Springfield Isotopes loss would
clinch first place for The Bullets.
Bullets strike twice on powerplay: Ockrant (Cohen, S. Spears), Leibtog (B. Spears, Adelson).
Full story to be posted soon!
ASHKIN OUT INDEFINITELY
July 7th, 2008
The Bullets received some disheartening news today as it appears that star centre Ben Ashkin will miss a significant amount of time due to mononucleosis.
Ashkin first began showing symptoms over a week ago. He received further testing after being unable to play in yesterday's
matinee game, and doctors were able to determine the true extent of his illness.
Game in and game out, Ashkin is a difference maker and his presence will certainly be missed. His 9 goals and 12
points leads all Bullets.
There is currently no timetable for Ben's return, however the prospect of him playing again this season has thankfully not
yet been ruled out.
We will keep you updated on his status.
SHORTHANDED BULLETS TEAM SHOWS HEART & DEDICATION IN 5-3 LOSS
Valiant effort not enough to extend undefeated streak
The Bullets undefeated streak came to an end last night at the hands of the first place Springfield Isotopes. The Bullets
only iced seven skaters in this one, but those who did play gave it their all and kept the game respectable.
Benji Lightstone started in net and stopped 25 of 30 shots, including fourteen in the second period. The total shots for
the game were 30 to 22, in favour of the Isotopes.
The game may have been closer - possibly even tied - had it not been for a couple of fluke goals scored against
The Bullets. On the first, The Bullets were in the middle of a line change prior to a defensive zone faceoff, when
out of nowhere the puck was dropped early, and before the fresh Bullets could get into the play, the puck was in
the back of net. Despite arguments from captain's Brandon Spears and Mike Adelson, the goal still stood. The second fluke goal wasn't nearly as questionable, just even more unlucky. While an Isotopes defenseman
took a wrist shot which was heading high and wide, Adelson was tied up with an opponent in front of the net. The shot
ended up hitting Adelson in the face and trickling past goaltender Lightstone.
Every Bullet recorded an above average amount of ice time, however Adelson and Spears both especially stand
out. They played approximately 85% of the game, an absolutely astonishing figure.
Bullets forward Mark Leibtog was questionable heading into the game with a shoulder injury. However, after finding out that The Bullets would only have
six skaters without him, he decided to give it a whirl. Leibtog played hard and was very effective in this. He also scored
The Bullets third goal with one second remaining, although it was too little too late for a comeback at that point.
The Bullets will be facing the Dufferin Steelers for the third and final time of the regular season next Sunday. So far,
The Bullets have won both meetings. Hopefully they will be able to rebound from this week's loss and get back in the
winning column.
