BULLETS PRAISED
April
20th, 2012
Although it's been nearly four year since their last game, The Bullets are
still making headlines. Most recently, the organization was praised for their charitable efforts by some of the regions's
most well-known charities.
Former backup goaltender Dustin Stroll was overhead saying how proud
he was to be associated with the team and that he would continue to give back to the community as an ambassador to The Bullets
Youth & Community Foundation.
BULLETS GO OUT ON TOP
August 31st, 2008
Just two weeks after winning their first championship in franchise history, Bullets officials have announced that the
team will not submit an entry for the Winter 2008/09 hockey season.
Many teammates will continue playing together, however it will be for one of the many Bullets
affiliates.
However, it is premature to label The Bullets as defunct. While it is not likely that we will
see the franchise in action in the near future, rumblings suggest that the team will be up and running again
at some point in the future.
Until another team proves otherwise, The Bullets will always be the defending Champions and have temporarily retired
on top of the world.

BULLETS BRING HOME THE CHAMPIONSHIP!
An incredible group effort leads to the first championship in team history
August 18th, 2008
The Bullets made history last night by winning the league championship for the first time in their five
year history. It was an absolutely astonishing team effort, with The Bullets practically playing in unison; that is to
say, each and every Bullets read each other wonderfully. It was another rough duel against rivals the Dufferin Steelers,
but in the end, they were no match for The Bullets.
Overpowering and dominant at points, The Bullets were clearly the more hungry team. "We came out flying tonight,"
said centre
Ben Ashkin, who scored the game winning goal and added two assists. "Our plan was to set the tone early by throwing a
lot of pucks on net," added
Matt Ockrant. The strategy worked well - the shots were 16-7 in favour of The Bullets after one period and they enjoyed
a one goal lead thanks to finishes by
Max Shuster and
Bruce Mackenzie.
The Steelers pressed a little more in the second period but only managed to trade goals, and The Bullets still
held a one goal lead heading into the third. Ashkin was the scorer in the second on a marvellous individual effort. He
intercepted a pass and immediately went on the counter-attack by doing a spin-o-rama right around an opponent
and then skating hard to the hash marks before roofing a shot.
Haunting memories of blown leads and disappointing playoff exits had to be conquered in order for The Bullets to
win. The boys handled the pressure brilliantly, and the third period exemplified the experience that each and every Bullet
had gained throughout the previous seasons.
Dustin Stroll was a rock in net, stopping all 7 shots he faced (21 saves all game). Mackenzie, usually a shut down defenseman, worked
his magic again, as he took a feed from
Tyler Cohen at the point and blasted a seeing-eye shot that found its way into the net. "Brucie Mac was a real gamechanger tonight.
For him to come through offensively in such an important game shows how badly we all wanted this," assistant captain
Michael Adelson stated. Finally, with 3:00 to go,
Dave Preston put the nail to the coffin as he scored on the powerplay. Adelson crossed the puck to Ashkin who blasted a shot
towards the goal. Preston collected the rebound and skillfully deposited the puck home.
The Bullets could barely contain themselves at this point, but did a professional job in running down
the clock and finishing off the Steelers. After the final horn, there was a mad celebration through a
myriad of sticks, gloves, and helmets. The players then posed for the traditional championship team picture, before continuing
to celebrate in the dressing room.
While The Bullets played hard, the Steelers played dirty, and the refs did not hesistate to call penalties. In all, The
Bullets had six powerplay opportunities. Meanwhile, the team only took one penalty, and that was in the first minute of the
game. The Bullets finished with 28 shots to the Steelers 23.
Although The Bullets were victorious, they nonetheless missed captain
Brandon Spears, who was absent due to important family commitments. "It would have been nice to celebrate this with our captain. He has
been through thick and thin with some of us, and it's all culminated into tonight - he's going to be ecstatic when he sees
what we've accomplished. We'll absolutely celebrate some more when he gets back," Adelson told the media after the game.
All of the hard work, dedication, and roster tweaking over the years have lead to bringing The Bullets
to the top of the hockey world. There is no one that would disagree that it was all worthwhile!

ASHKIN TO RETURN FOR FINALS - SPEARS DUO AND LEIBTOG OUT
August 14th, 2008
Yesterday afternoon, Bullets centre
Ben Ashkin was given medical clearance to play full-paced hockey again. He had been suffering from mononucleosis.
We can confirm the numerous reports that have surfaced stating that Ashkin played in a game Wednesday night. He was spotted
at the Pavilion arena playing for a low-level team. He played defense and contributed two assists in his teams loss. Scouts
for the Dufferin Steelers were said to be "quite nervous" after hearing of his performance.
Ashkin has played in only six of the Bullets eleven games thus far. However, he is still third on the team in scoring,
has the second most goals, and his average of two points per game leads the entire league. The Bullets are ecstatic
to have him back.
With the good news comes some bad news too. Both Brandon Spears and Steven Spears will be scratched for The Bullets in the championship game. They are participating in an archaeological dig in Israel and will be there
for two weeks. As well, forward Mark Leibtog remains out with a shoulder injury. All three should be ready to return for next season.
We look forward to
seeing you at the game on Sunday! GO BULLETS GO!

BULLETS VICTORIOUS IN SEMIS - WILL PLAY FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Bullets prevail over GT Express, have sights set on league championship
August 11th, 2008
When The Bullets faced the GT Express three weeks ago to close out the regular season, the result was an embarassing 12-3
loss.
After falling to the Steelers in the first round, The Bullets were given a second chance in the playoffs and
an opportunity to exact revenge on the top seeded GT Express. The task seemed daunting to say the least, and The
Bullets were heavy underdogs heading into the game. However, The Bullets were up for the challenge on this night and prevailed
4-1 in a hard fought victory, meaning that they have advanced to the finals (to be played next Sunday, August 17th).
The Bullets played one of their best games in team history. They were lead offensively by scoring phenom
Matt Ockrant, who recorded three more points, bringing his season point total to 17. Ockrant set up the game winning goal, scored by
Joey Evans, on a dramatic play.
There would be no lead blowing in this one. After falling behind early due to a giveaway, The Bullets tightened
up defensively and were flawless the rest of the game.
Benji Lightstone played what could arguably be his most consistent game as a Bullet, stopping 23 of 24. He was also forced to make
a few saves from close, but for the most part faced perimeter shots that he controlled amicably. Lightstone had a lot to prove
coming in to this one, as he was victimized for all 12 goals in the teams last meeting - quite a contrast from tonight's game.
On Ockrant's first goal, he turned an innocent looking rush into a deadly play. He then set up Evans' winner by making
a perfectly placed no-look pass which made it a simple tap-in for Evans.
Brandon Spears added the insurance marker for The Bullets on a great shot which find a hole short side. Ockrant added insult to injury with
his second goal of the game after stealing the puck and burying a goal on a two-on-one.
The Bullets will face a very familiar opponent in the championship game. The Dufferin Steelers have only beaten The Bullets
once, however it was in the playoffs. The Bullets swept the season series against them. With an effort similar to tonight's,
the game should be entertaining and incredible to watch. The championship game is tentatively scheduled for 8:30pm, however
we will let you know when this becomes official. GO BULLETS GO!
Notes:
Ben Ashkin is hoping to return for the championship game. He has been suffering from mononucleosis. Matt Ockrant has recorded at least
one point in 8 straight appearances. Joey Evans has goals in his last two games.
