BULLETS DOMINATE EX-TEAMMATE AND HIS ORANGEMEN
In what seemed
like it would be a sleeper after the first period, the Bullets came out flying, really turning up the offence for the rest
of the night. Outshooting the Orangemen 29-7, The Bullets came away with a 6-1 victory.
Leading the way was Mike Ceresney with a hat trick, and Brandon
Spears with 1 goal and 3 assists. "We really continued to build upon our progress from the last couple games by playing more
and more as a team and really making some wonderful chemistry," said Spears, who's 2nd goal of the season stood up as the
game winner.
"I wasn't planning on playing tonight; you know with my knee injury
and all, it was really a last minute call... I just couldn't miss this game, I never want to let my boys down," said Ceresney.
The Orangemen seemed dejected after the game. Sheldon Goldberg,
a former Bullets player, worked hard for his Orangemen but just couldn't keep up with The Bullets tonight. Goldberg was unavailable
for comment.
Ceresney opened the scoring with a hard shot that fooled the goalie.
Spears put The Bullets up by 1 not too long after, jamming home a nice saucer by Chucky Lea from the corner. Late in
the 3rd, Spears corralled the puck from the face off at centre ice, spun back and floated a headman pass to Ceresney at the
offensive blue line which sent him in for a clear shot for his 2nd goal. To top off the hat trick, Ceresney took a drop pass
from Spears in the slot and beat the goalie on the right. "I surprised myself with that pass that floated all the way up to
him, it was pretty cool," said Spears with a grin. "We really wanted this win. We wanted to send a message to the rest of
the league that we're after the championship and NOTHING will stop us. We continued to show that we won't accept anything
less than first place and a championship!"
Dave Preston, playing forward for the first time this season added
a goal and an assist for his first 2 points of the year. The Bullets' next game is Tuesday June 14, 9:55pm @ The Pavilion.
