EVEN THIRTY SHOTS ON GOAL IS NOT A GUARANTEED VICTORY
The Bullets found this out the hard way last night, registering a total of 30 shots on goal but only coming
out with a 1-1 tie.
F Joey Evans, who missed the game due to what team officials are calling a lower body inury, watched from
the bench and had this to say after the game; "You could tell from the beginning that the boys really wanted this victory.
When it was tied after two there was disbelief on the bench, especially because of what happened the last time we played these
guys [The Bullets won 8-1]. They're goalie played well".
The Bullets played very well in the defensive zone. Although allowing 17 shots, many of them were low and
from the outside - shots that G Dustin Stroll handled flawlessly. Some big shot blocks from Ari Greenberg and Chucky Lea,
as well as a monster block by Brandon Spears, also kept the puck away from the Bullets net.
The Bullets could not capitalize on the powerplay in this one. A gift was given to them when the
Greencoats went down two men, giving the boys a 48 second 5-on-3 powerplay. Even after tons of pressure, no one could find
a way to put the puck in the back of the net.
With around five minutes to go in the game, Mike Ceresney hit the post. "If only that shot was a few inches
to the right...then right now we could have been talking about a victory", Evans recalls.
The Bullets had one last chance at victory with about 10 seconds to go when Brandon Spears made
a cross ice pass near the crease to Mike Adelson. "The goalie stopped the initial shot, and I just couldn't bang home the
rebound", Adelson commented about the play.
The Bullets next game goes on June 7th at 9:55pm against former Bullets forward Sheldon Goldberg and his
Pavilion Orangemen.
