HARD FOUGHT LOSS

August 12th, 2005

The Bullets finished off the regular season in a battle that lasted the entire game. Although the guys lost 3-2, there is no shame to be taken from the outcome.

The Bullets fought hard from the opening faceoff against a faster skating and better passing team. "We knew that we couldn't beat them on skill and skill alone. We knew that taking advantage of whatever chances we could muster up was key if we wanted to even consider beating these guys", Adam Katchky said after the game.

Dustin Stroll had an incredible game, stopping 25 of the 28 shots that were thrown at him. His biggest save came in the first period on a two on one, where he slid cross crease and made an incredible toe save. "I remember thinking to myself that a lot of NHL goalies wouldn't even be able to stop that - to say that I was impressed with that stop would be an understatement", Mike Adelson commented.

After falling behind by two in the first period, the Bullets faced an uphill battle. Brandon Spears scored his 8th goal of the season to make it a 2-1 game early in the third, but then the Irpinia Bullets brought their lead back up to two. With around a minute to go in the game, Brandon Spears scored his second goal of the game with a great finish to a nice pass by Mike Ceresney. With hope still running high and a tie game in the Bullets sight, Dustin Stroll was pulled in favour of an extra attacker. However, time simply ran out on the Bullets after a lot of pressure was put on.

The Bullets will now wait to find out the final standings and see who their opponent will be next Tuesday in their first playoff game.
